The temple has several  water tanks which are also a home for aquatic life like fishes and tortoises.

The temple is situated in dark woods - known as Ban (or Jungle) - and hence it is called as 'Baneshwar'.

Baneshwar is a temple of Shiva located in the village of Nasarapur about 40 KM southwest of Pune. It is a pleasant and calm place amidst a jungle.

Baneshwar temple architecture is from the medieval period. The temple was constructed in 1749 by Peshwa Nanasaheb, son of Peshwa Bajirao
